S.A.F.E. is a small, voluntary run support group for parents/carers of children with Anaphylaxis and Food Intolerances set-up in October 2003 by 3 mothers with Anaphylactic children. Despite it's name the group realises that often Anaphylaxis (and Food Intol.) comes as part of an allergic package with other allergic diseases present in any one child eg eczema, hayfever, therefore discussions, meetings, newsletters etc tend to encorporate allergies as a whole.

S.A.F.E. offers regular meetings both with and without guest speakers. Past guest speakers in 2005 have included Dr. Burova Consultant Dermatologist at Bedford South Wing and Dr. Clark Paediatric Allergy Consultant at Addenbrookes, Cambridge. It publishes regular newsletters with articles written by parents in similar situations, up to date research and other topics relevant to Allergy. The group also has a "library" of books which are available to members on loan for a small cheque deposit. The library also includes Dummy Epi/AnnaPens + training video available on loan for members to refresh their skills on their use or to train extended family members, babysitters and other institutions outside of the home. In the groups absence S.A.F.E. has formed an "Allergy Directory", a booklet of relatively impersonal details given voluntarily by group members which allows them to keep in contact with eachother in the groups absence.

As well as offering support, S.A.F.E. along with other support/pressure groups is pro-active in pressuring the government into improving the current provision of Allergy Services in the UK, for which Mrs Nadine Dorries MP for Mid-Beds offered her full support after her visit to us in Sept 2005.
